The following are some instructions for importing/saving colors within QuarkXPress:
Installing the Quark XTension
In order to use Color Compass with QuarkXPress, you must first install the Quark XTension supplied with Color Compass. To install this XTension, drag it into the XTension folder within the Quark XPress application folder.
QuarkXPress
1. Save a palette of Color Compass colors in the QuarkXPress format. (within the Save window popup)
2. Colors will be added to Quark’s Colors Palette. If you have a document open, the colors will be added to the open document only, but if there is not a document open, the colors will be added to the application. This way, you will have access to the colors from every document you open.
3. Launch QuarkXPress.
4. If you wish to add the colors to the document only, then choose New Document to create a new document. Otherwise, proceed to step 5.
5. In the Utilities menu, locate the Color Compass hierarchical menu.
6. Choose to import the colors as either process or spot. Importing colors as process will use the CMYK values to make the color. Spot on the other hand, will load the colors RGB values to describe the color. Also, this option will uncheck the Process Separation checkbox within the Colors dialog.
7. You will then be presented with a open dialog and should navigate to your color file and click the Open button.
8. You should now have your colors.
If a color with the same name already exists, then it will append a “•CC” to the end of the name in order to differentiate it from the other color. Due to the fact that Quark has 16 default colors, the maximum number of colors that you can import is 240.
